IH8NEW 1949 Chevy Journal From The Beginning

4.03.09

It has been a while since my last post. So what has been going on with us? Well, let me catch you up. I started my new job in September of 2008. The economy, as we all know, has taken a down turn. We decided it would be smart to sell the 1949 Chevy Business Coupe because we wanted to be prepared for hard times. The new job is great and we are doing alright. I should of left my old job much sooner then I did.

My new employer supplies a company vehicle for me, so our Camaro just sits in the driveway. We decided that it is time to get another project car and to sell the Camaro to fund the start. We have started to search for another project car. We would like to find another 1949 since we like that body style and have so much research materials on them.

I found several listings for 1949 Chevy Coupes on Crag's List, Ebay and a few other internet sites that have car ads. I am going through the process of finding cars that are for sale then evaluating them to see if they match what we are looking for.

There is 1949 Chevy Styleline on Ebay that I have bid on that looks like it might be right for us. I like the look of the car and the modifications that have been done to it. The thing about modifications is that you have to find someone with the same taste. I must share that with the seller because the modifications are some that I would have done. The auction ends tomorrow, so we will see how things work out. The seller comments on the auction are:

"1949 Chevy Styleline Deluxe ,2 door, 305 C. Il. , Edelbrach 4 Barrel Carb., Edelbrach Chrome Brenten, Alluminuim Valve covers, Headers, new hoses and belts, new alluminum radiator, new heater core, New blue dot tailights, new tires and crager Smoothie Mags, open front wheel wells , new transmission, new partial quarter panels, new door mirrrors, disc brakes power steering, new rockers, new drive shaft, new rear windoe, new, dawg legs, B&m Z Gate Shifter 4 speed Auto, with overdrive. The intererior has been done by me and my need new. All it needs is a paint job Ready to drive away."

There is also one Q & A:

"Q: what about the suspension, looks like it has been raised in the rear? or lowered in the front? thanks brad

A: rear end is out of a camero as well as the leaf springs, the front end A frame and all is out of a camero including disc breaks. It is open wheel wells no inner fender panals. The front tire's are low profile, which gives it a wedge look.
