Lewis 1970 Nova

Chauncey Lewis's 1970 Chevrolet Nova SS.

We met Chauncey and his Pro-Street 1970 Chevy Nova SS at the 4th Annual March Madness Car Show and Racing Event held on March 27th, 2010. The event was at the Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, Tennessee.

The Nova got our attention because of the aggressive overall look and the quality workmanship. The judges agreed by voting the car, 2rd place for Best of Show and awarding it, 1st place in the Classic Chevy Class.

Talking with Chauncey it quickly became clear that he was a true Gearhead. We talked about when he was in high school that cars were his major course of study. Chauncey said, "I would sit in class drawing cars and they were almost the only subject that I talked about.". Every Gearhead reading this is now remembering doing the same thing. He has passed on the bug to Reinet, his wife and Brooke (12) and Jessica (11), his two daughters. They all built the Nova together as a family project. The proud father said, "The girls can get any wrench that I need and know exactly where it is. Everyone had specific jobs that they did on the build." He continued by saying, "This is my dream car and the third times a charm car."

Chauncey has had two Nova's before this one. The first was a race car and the second car just didn't work out. He found this SS on Racing Junk.com about two years ago. Since the car has been finished Chauncey is now living the dream by racing, cruising and attending car shows.
