4th Annual March Madness Car Show and Racing Event

49-54 Chevy / Gearhead Geek attended this event on March 27th, 2010, at the Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, Tennessee.

This was the 4th annual event with this name and held on the last Saturday of March at the Speedway. It was hosted by a local car club the last 3 years but they stopped this year. This event was the first under the new management.

"Fast Eddie", the announcer for the speedway, and his wife "Speedy Mama" have taken on this event. Anyone who has ever put on an event like this will know that it takes a lot of time and effort.

They did well considering this was their first time hosting an event like this. While there were some minor issues and organization delays the staff put forth a great effort to correct them. The major complaint was the distance to the restrooms. They showed a real concern for providing a good experience for participants. We feel confident that next years, 5th Anniversary Show will be great.

We had brought 49-54 Chevy / Gearhead Geek flyers that we were going to place in the cars at the event. Other clubs had done the same thing. The staff offered table space for the flyers. Then later their granddaughters passed them out to the cars. This was an extra detail for the staff to do that we appreciated.

169 vehicles registered for the show. A wide range of years were represented. From 1936 to 2010. Classic's, Domestic's, Import's, SUV's and Motorcycles were all represented.

Food and drink was available at the concession stand under the drag strip announcer tower.

The drag strip is a 1/8 mile and hosted the racing event. The cars were running in the 6's with the bikes running down into the 5's.

The weather was good with clear, sunny skies. It was a little cool in the morning but warmed up by noon.

There was a good amount of awards given out to many different classes. Best of Show went to a 1936 Ford Truck that still had a Flat Head V-8.
